How does a photovoltaic installation work?
Solar panels are usually located on the roof of a house, garage or building. Each installation has a certain tilt and orientation depending on the characteristics of the roof. The panels use their photovoltaic cells to convert solar radiation into direct current electricity. The direct current of the electricity produced then passes through an inverter, which converts it into alternating current. This allows you to use your own clean energy for your home installation.
Self-consumption or complete injection: the choice is yours!
If you choose self-consumption, you directly consume the electricity produced by your photovoltaic installation. This reduces your consumption of electricity from the grid and therefore your electricity bill.
The surplus energy produced is injected into the grid and sold back to the grid.
If you choose to inject all of your green electricity production, you benefit from a fixed feed-in tariff guaranteed by the State for 15 years and do not consume any electricity from your photovoltaic installation.
State subsidies
The Luxembourg legislative and regulatory framework offers 2 types of subsidies depending on your choice of installation:
• If you choose self-consumption, you are eligible for the PrimeHouse state subsidy up to 62.5% of the material and installation costs
• If you choose full injection, you are eligible for the state PrimeHouse subsidy up to 20% of the material and installation costs
• Some municipalities also offer subsidies, do not hesitate to contact them
The subsidies are subject to change (Klimabonus).
