The Grand Duchy is more than ever a player in a major energy revolution by accelerating the process of transition to electric mobility. At the heart of this, charging stations, whether public or private, play a crucial role by definition in offering electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle drivers the infrastructure they need for their journeys.
Exponential growth of the network
In recent years, Europe has seen the number of charging stations on its territory increase from 300,000 in May 2022 to almost 500,000 a year later. In Luxembourg alone, nearly 3,000 charging points are now accessible to the public. According to figures from last year, the country had 308 charging points per 100,000 inhabitants, making the Grand Duchy the 2nd European country in this category (only the Netherlands did better with 577 charging points per 100,000 inhabitants (1)), proof of our country's lead in electromobility!
At the continental level, the European Parliament set in March the objective of extending the deployment of charging stations of at least 400 kW of power every 60 km along the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) by 2026 and every 100 km on secondary roads by 2030. This is proof that the network of today is only the foundation of the network of tomorrow.
diego Luxembourg, through its web platform, its mobile app and its diego.mobility token, is a key player in electromobility as it allows access to more than 200,000 public charging stations in Luxembourg and Europe... And this number will increase even further in the coming months!
A better integrated network
Indeed, the interoperability of charging stations is a crucial issue to facilitate long-distance travel across Europe. The efforts between the various stakeholders to standardize connectors and communication protocols are bearing fruit in a very concrete way.
The objective? To allow drivers to navigate more easily across borders without worrying about the compatibility of charging stations. This is also a very important objective for us and, internally, our experts are working every day on this subject in order to facilitate the travel of our Luxembourgish and Belgian customers, and users in transit.
Fast charging stations are also a practical solution for long journeys, by reducing the time needed to recharge batteries. Here again, the Grand Duchy is a good student by offering a fast charging station every 20 km on average. And here too, our diego.mobility solution naturally integrates this new technology.
1 ecosystem, a multitude of facilities
diego.mobility combines simplicity and modularity by offering:
- Management of home and work charging stations allowing for reimbursement and billing of charges
- Installation and management of charging stations in office buildings with possible differentiated pricing for employees and visitors
- The possible combination with a photovoltaic installation to consume the available energy and optimize charging
- An integrated solution for residences and shared administrative buildings
- Tools that make life easier: web platform, app, token (click here
diego Luxembourg works with its own electricians, partner craftsmen and follows the regulatory developments and subsidies offered by the Government. Present for nearly 10 years in the fields of electromobility and decarbonization, diego Luxembourg, a subsidiary of Teseos within Encevo group, the Luxembourger energy leader, is your partner in the management of your energy transition project (electromobility, photovoltaic installation, heat pump) from start to finish.
